"Trying the impossible"
My son James is a freshman in the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M University.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, 30 minutes before an inspection, he spilled a bottle of “heel and sole” (a shoe sole black) on his only long-sleeved uniform shirt. As you might expect, each upperclassman in his company came over to see the stain and “explain the error of his ways.”
Now this was not just any shirt. This was a Navy/Marine uniform shirt from the Department of Defense, and with a replacement cost of $72, I was ready to try anything.
I took said shirt to a cleaners in Bryan-College Station. The lady literally would not touch the shirt. I brought it home and called Jim and Gayla Barrow at Zenith Dry Cleaners. “Bring it by and we’ll try,” said Gayla.
I brought the shirt in Wednesday morning at 8:30 and at 9 a.m. Thursday, it was ready and perfect.
I’m proud there are still family-owned businesses like Zenith in Denton with proprietors willing to “try the impossible.”
